Powder coating is a process where very fine
powder is sprayed from an electrically charged gun onto a desired
part. The voltage running from the gun provides the attraction
of the powder to attach to the grounded part. After this process the
sprayed part is then cured in an oven typically around 400 degrees
for 15-20 minutes.
Powdered surfaces have an extremely durable and long lasting
finish. A good clear coat will also extend the already long life of
a powder coated product.
The actual process of powder coating provides for an impeccable
finish. The amount of powder actually used to coat a part is minimal
making it nearly impossible for sags or runs that are common with
paint. Powder coated surfaces also do not require any maintenance
like with paint. You can clean any coated part with water or Windex
and still retain the original show quality finish. Powder coating
also provides for a more rust, scratch, and dent resistant finish
than paint.
Another benefit that powder coating has over paint is that it is
environmentally friendly. Unlike paint, powder coating produces no
pollutants or solvents that harm the environment.
Virtually anything made of metal that can withstand 400 degrees
can be coated. If you're not sure whether or not the surface you
want to be coated can withstand 400 degrees, shoot us an email and
we'll let you know! Anything from automotive parts to household
items, whatever you can come up with we can coat it!
